How did I start drawing furries?

Hi there! My name is Ash, and I’m 17 years old. I make furry art and take commissions now, but I wanted to share how it all started. It’s been a cool journey, and maybe someone out there will find it helpful or inspiring!

📚 It All Started With Warrior Cats

When I was about 12, I got super into Warrior Cats. I loved reading the books and imagining all the cool cat characters. I thought they were so awesome! I started drawing little cats from the books in my sketchbook and making my own OCs (original characters). At first, the drawings were super simple, but I had a lot of fun.

I didn’t even know what “furry art” was back then. I just liked drawing animals with cool designs and stories. Warrior Cats really gave me the motivation to keep drawing and imagining new characters.

✏️ Learning to Draw Better

As I got older, I wanted to get better at art. I started watching YouTube tutorials, trying out digital art apps, and following other furry artists online. I learned what “furry” meant and realized that a lot of people love drawing animal characters like me.

I kept practicing every week. I tried new styles, learned about shading, line art, and anatomy (animal and human!). Sometimes it was hard, but I never gave up because drawing made me happy.

💻 Joining the Furry Community

By the time I was 15, I started posting my art online. I met other artists and furry fans. Everyone was so kind and supportive. I saw people doing commissions, and I thought, “Maybe I can try that too!”

So I opened a few cheap commissions just to try. And guess what? People wanted to buy my art! That made me feel so proud and thankful.

🎨 Now I Do Commissions!

Now I’m 17 and I take furry commissions. I love bringing other people’s OCs to life. It makes me so happy to make art that people care about. I still get inspiration from Warrior Cats sometimes, too, it’s what started everything!

I’m always learning, and I hope to keep growing as an artist. If you’re reading this and want to be an artist, just keep going. Everyone starts somewhere. Don’t be afraid to share your art, even if it’s not “perfect.”

Thanks for reading my story! 🐾
